What is so good about PoP ?

Why do people like it and whats new about it. I have played quite a bit of Perisno and ACOK and some other mods but nowadays i rarely play anything but ACOK because it looks pretty and is so damn fun. I can see that PoP holds the first place in the singleplayer section and i wonder why. Thanks
