Any way to assign only certain troop types to a formation?

Hi new player here, question in the title. Let's say I only want my Swordsmen in Formation 1, is there a way to do this with any granularity? I know there's the small icons which allow you to set "preferred types", but is there any way to do it with a bit of precision? Or a mod which allows this? Thanks in advance. Anyone know a way to make sieges a little quicker?

I’m not talking about the siege once you broke down the walls, or made siege towers, I’m talking trebuchets and catapults. It seems no matter how good my engineer is I simply cannot build trebuchets or onagers and their catapults just merk the fuck out of my trebuchets. Don’t even get me started on how my AI will just aim at the walls instead of the catapults and then get absolutely fucked.

Anyone know a better way?
