Declared war on allied mercenaries on load save?

I’m playing as southern Empire, have the Hidden Hand as mercenaries with a couple of their parties in my army. I started a big battle late at night, so half way through quit to go to bed, knowing I’d saved right before the battle anyway like a good little save scummer. Now when I reload any of the precious 3 autosaves I immediately declare war on the Hidden Hand and their parties abandon my Army. Dragon Banner/Kingdom Forming Question

So, like many others, I “timed out” the main quest line. As far as I’m aware, I’m still able to form a kingdom, but I would like to complete the main quest if possible. All I can find on the main quest timing out is from back in April, is this something that was “fixed” in updates but doesn’t apply to old saves?

Also another question, is there a way to form a kingdom as a vassal without getting the opinion penalty from all the clans? It seemed like they really want you to form a kingdom as a vassal since you can’t even get your own clan parties to follow you if you’re not part of a kingdom. I was really hoping Bannerlord would have a system where you could become independent without being a traitor like in Warband. Do they at least let you choose to leave the kingdom without opinion penalties if the king doesn’t give you land that you’ve personally conquered?
