Declared war on allied mercenaries on load save?

I’m playing as southern Empire, have the Hidden Hand as mercenaries with a couple of their parties in my army. I started a big battle late at night, so half way through quit to go to bed, knowing I’d saved right before the battle anyway like a good little save scummer. Now when I reload any of the precious 3 autosaves I immediately declare war on the Hidden Hand and their parties abandon my Army. [PoP] Enemy armies run towards the left side of the map every battle

In every single battle where the army is lead by the lord of another faction, all of his troops just make a beeline for the left side of the map and slowly move along it. This usually leads to the whole army bunching up and most cavalry dismounting. The only way I've found to avoid this is by sniping the lord and making the army charge, but is there anything I can do to stop this from happening?
