Declared war on allied mercenaries on load save?

I’m playing as southern Empire, have the Hidden Hand as mercenaries with a couple of their parties in my army. I started a big battle late at night, so half way through quit to go to bed, knowing I’d saved right before the battle anyway like a good little save scummer. Now when I reload any of the precious 3 autosaves I immediately declare war on the Hidden Hand and their parties abandon my Army. Crashes occur! But any one else not able to defend on a siege?

I am just wondering if anyone else is having troubles defending a town.

Either it goes to the loading screen, then a CTD, or just plain old CTD.

I don't know what to do at this point, as I can't really defend my cities. Maybe someone else has had this problem, or maybe it is just a mod error.
