STUCK AT BEGINING OF WARSAILS

I escorted the merchants and fought off two ships in a sea battle . I'm on the Scourge of the Seas quest. It tells me to talk to Gunnar via a golden exclamation point. I go to talk to him and he says thst he is waiting on new." What do I do now? It seems as though there are no obvious prompts and the quest still exists. I need help specifically with advancing this quest...I can't believe I am stuck this early in the game. If anyone has any advice, I'm really desperate. Why isn’t tale worlds seeming to not work on Ai improvement at all

This is my big issue with bannerlord. The ai is stupid as all can be. They can’t use ladders or drive towers properly. I can’t ever trust them to use siege weapons because half the time they destroy their own siege engines. The ai is just a mess! Now don’t get me wrong bannerlord is super fun and I enjoy every minute of playing it! But please taleworlds please! fix the ai before you add anymore features! Anyways, just some of my thoughts on bannerlord.
