Declared war on allied mercenaries on load save?

I’m playing as southern Empire, have the Hidden Hand as mercenaries with a couple of their parties in my army. I started a big battle late at night, so half way through quit to go to bed, knowing I’d saved right before the battle anyway like a good little save scummer. Now when I reload any of the precious 3 autosaves I immediately declare war on the Hidden Hand and their parties abandon my Army. Why do huscarls have worse armor than their T5?

Why? They have no Cavalry and their archers imo are good af but are like 60% melee 40% archer. Just have huscarls be the straight up best Infantry I don't understand. Their skills are good, 200 one handed and stuff but regardless, a Legionaire still probably cake walks them in most situations. Like literally just slap some really good gauntlets on them. Just gloves, I'm excited and from early access videos they look amazing and so does the ship gameplay. I'm really hoping they get more armor on release and it's just temporary balancing.
