Starting a new Kingdom based on the Vaegirs

I'm about go start a new game in Bannerlord and form the Vaegir kingdom. What units should I use that bests mirrors the underrated warband faction, and best roleplay the former Vaegir Guard that the Empire was used?

I love PoP and think it's the best thing since Sliced Person, but the early game is bloody brutal, especially if you're used to kicking ass and taking names in M&B vanilla. Back when Bannerlord was announced, I vaguely remember that, in the announcement thread, people were discussing the choice of the title "Bannerlord." Does anyone else remember that?
