How to improve auto resolve outcomes?

I auto-resolve 90% of the fights I get into, what can I do for better results? Should I find 1-2 companions with high tactics skill and keep them in my party? Will that help? Do I have to assign them into any role? There is no slot for tactics role, is it enough if I just keep them in my party? As for sieges, should I keep a companion with high engineering skill and assign him in the engineering slot? Gifted Castles Making me Bankrupt

I am a pretty popular guy

everyone loves me

im in the southern empire

even the queen wants to wife me up

but they keep giving me castles . i couldnt afford the first one that was a border castle and the garrison isnt even that big. i was losing 1k a day. They gave me a second castle and the peace conference crashed my game

question is what do i do to prevent going bankrupt and losing everything? i know you have to make workshops and stuff but im losing money to fast while everything builds
