Any way to assign only certain troop types to a formation?

Hi new player here, question in the title. Let's say I only want my Swordsmen in Formation 1, is there a way to do this with any granularity? I know there's the small icons which allow you to set "preferred types", but is there any way to do it with a bit of precision? Or a mod which allows this? Thanks in advance. how do i mod my game so that my couched lance can stay couched indefinitely, i.e. 100% chance to stay couched after kill?

i basically want to modify the skewer perk for the polearm skill so that i can essentially make a kebab out of my enemy's frontline.

where do i start looking for modding resources?
