Any way to assign only certain troop types to a formation?

Hi new player here, question in the title. Let's say I only want my Swordsmen in Formation 1, is there a way to do this with any granularity? I know there's the small icons which allow you to set "preferred types", but is there any way to do it with a bit of precision? Or a mod which allows this? Thanks in advance. I haven't played in about 9 months since when the game was pretty new. Are there many perks that still don't work and bugs with skill increases etc.?

For example when I played, trade would not level from caravans, leadership was kinda broken, etc.

Does anything still "not work"? Before I jump in with a character concept that may not work.
