Any way to assign only certain troop types to a formation?

Hi new player here, question in the title. Let's say I only want my Swordsmen in Formation 1, is there a way to do this with any granularity? I know there's the small icons which allow you to set "preferred types", but is there any way to do it with a bit of precision? Or a mod which allows this? Thanks in advance. I have a castle/fiefs.....now what?

So I am playing Vlandians and during war I received a castle and 2 villages that come with it.

I am not super high level, I assigned my brother the governor since he had the most perks (It's odd you can't make yourself governor? especially if my steward skill is higher?). Do castles ever get "your" perks?

Anyways...im not really sure what I should be doing. I've invested some gold to help build up walls/etc... but not sure what else.

Also is it dumb I gave away 2 castles? They were on the edge of a common contested area and it felt like it would be difficult to defend both ? (Right now my party can hold about 115 troops)
