Any way to assign only certain troop types to a formation?

Hi new player here, question in the title. Let's say I only want my Swordsmen in Formation 1, is there a way to do this with any granularity? I know there's the small icons which allow you to set "preferred types", but is there any way to do it with a bit of precision? Or a mod which allows this? Thanks in advance. Prisoners are not joining my army

So after a year's time of break I came back to see what's new and after 2 hours I noticed not a single prisoner has the prompt to join my army as compared to last year's initial builds - with 70-80 prisoners after every couple of battles at least a few will have the option to be recruited as my soldiers.

So what has changes? Am I missing something here..?
