Any way to assign only certain troop types to a formation?

Hi new player here, question in the title. Let's say I only want my Swordsmen in Formation 1, is there a way to do this with any granularity? I know there's the small icons which allow you to set "preferred types", but is there any way to do it with a bit of precision? Or a mod which allows this? Thanks in advance. Could someone summarize the major changes to Bannerlord since launch?

I bought Bannerlord on the alpha release day and had fun but remember a lot of things were broken. Exploits were everywhere, many skills didn't work and were difficult to level up, sieges were broken, the main story didn't work, etc. What should I know before playing again? What's changed? Is the game in a good state right now?
