Any way to assign only certain troop types to a formation?

Hi new player here, question in the title. Let's say I only want my Swordsmen in Formation 1, is there a way to do this with any granularity? I know there's the small icons which allow you to set "preferred types", but is there any way to do it with a bit of precision? Or a mod which allows this? Thanks in advance. Companion death question

Hi all, So I've got Death enabled... Nice addition as a few of the "big names" have died during battles.

My companions also occasionally die.

What happens with their armor and weapons?

If its in a battle I participate in surely I can collect it and give it to the next companion I hire?
