How to improve auto resolve outcomes?

I auto-resolve 90% of the fights I get into, what can I do for better results? Should I find 1-2 companions with high tactics skill and keep them in my party? Will that help? Do I have to assign them into any role? There is no slot for tactics role, is it enough if I just keep them in my party? As for sieges, should I keep a companion with high engineering skill and assign him in the engineering slot? Confusion regarding new kingdom culture selection in 1.4.1 Beta.

The patch notes said that you can create a kingdom at clan tier 4 if you own one settlement. Youll be prompted to choose a culture for your new faction, and choose 4 policies as well as name your new kingdom. I took Dinar Castle in the Khuzait Khanate, created my new kingdom and selected Sturgia as my culture. Went to recruit troops from the villages and they are all Khuzait. I was under the assumption that the culture of the recruits changed to correspond to the culture you selected in kingdom creation menu. Am I wrong in thinking that from the patch notes? Why aren't my recruits Sturgian?

If I am wrong that part of the selection has zero purpose in-game, unlike the policies you choose which have effects.
