Any way to assign only certain troop types to a formation?

Hi new player here, question in the title. Let's say I only want my Swordsmen in Formation 1, is there a way to do this with any granularity? I know there's the small icons which allow you to set "preferred types", but is there any way to do it with a bit of precision? Or a mod which allows this? Thanks in advance. My manual save keeps dissapearing

It never happened before. Today I started playing and the save I had last night disapeared, only the autosaves were around.

I made a new sandbox game and when I saved it sometimes showed the file but if I spent too long between saves it wouldn't appear.

I quit the game for like an hour, came back and had the same issue. Only the autosaves were available.

Any reason why this happens or what should I do?
