I've been playing MnB on and off for a very long time now. Normally, I create my character, and specialize in mounted archery with a saber and shield. It's pretty good: get a Courser and shoot the enemy while circling them, and once you run out of arrows, just start slashing drive-by style. The saber can be replaced with a Bastard Sword (or any 1h/2h sword or mace, really), making it even better, because its 2h swing is stronger and compensates for when the shield gets destroyed. As to other things, I usually am an honourable character, never attacking villages or peasants, chasing bandits, and refusing "blood money". But I've noticed that it's also a bit tedious to stick to this kind of playstyle. Not because it makes progress a bit slow, but because the playstyle itself can get tiresome. I'm not sure how to put it more clearly.
Sometimes, when I don't feel like "roleplaying", I just create a randomized character, get a two-handed weapon (sword, hafted blade, or axe or badiche), and start chopping away at everyone I encounter, no strategy or anything. I may, or may not use a horse, but when I do, I also use a spear or lance (whichever comes first, using the speak can be tricky). Basically, I'm making my character into some kind of glass mobile-cannon, if that makes any sense: moving quickly, hitting hard, but sacrificing the protection of heavier armours. And it's just so much more fun! Dive head-first into a group of enemies and swing your way to victory!
Anyone else feel like it?
