Gaining Supporters

My apologies if this has already been posted, but I couldn't find anything myself that addressed this specific point. In Bannerlord I've noticed several times that I can gain influence through clan supporters (notables that support your clan). I'm curious if anyone has any insight on how to gain supporters?

Intuitively, I would think it's related to relation you establish through quests, defending villages, etc. But I'm wondering if anyone can provide a more definitive answer on how to gain more supporters.
