I hate Horse Archers

Why did I decide to sign up with the northern empire as a Merc whilst they were fighting the Khuzaits? I've never fought them before and the one time I don't go with a decent horse rider because I want to fight on foot, this happens. Is there a way to assign clan members to another party?

I was recently told I had to have my brother and his spouse together to get more children to add to the clan, but I don't want to sit in a place waiting for the chance with them in my party. Or is there another way to get them to stay together? without me having to sit still with them in my party?
