I hate Horse Archers

Why did I decide to sign up with the northern empire as a Merc whilst they were fighting the Khuzaits? I've never fought them before and the one time I don't go with a decent horse rider because I want to fight on foot, this happens. Where do I find the battle mode that everyone is talking about?

I heard a recent update included a new game mode that everyone is so excited about called the battle mode..however, after the update, I still only got 2 classic game modes in the matchmaking. Where do I find the new battle mode?
