I'm playing with some mods that heavily restrict recruitment, so my army is almost entirely bandits and mercenaries. On land, Monchug's army would destroy mine, but this isn't a land battle and he gifted me several amazing prizes. Scimitar + Shield + Bow/Arrow
Thus we have no spear / polearm against cavalry and are vulnerable to spear/pikemen
Seems rather ineffective imho.
I looked online if Islamic weapons included some kind of polearm but they don't seem to have any, just spears. So would smithing a swordstaff maybe provide an outcome to be effective on horseback whilst not breaking the idea of RPing an islamic warrior?
