I hate Horse Archers

Why did I decide to sign up with the northern empire as a Merc whilst they were fighting the Khuzaits? I've never fought them before and the one time I don't go with a decent horse rider because I want to fight on foot, this happens. e1.7.2 Companions not staying in town

Anyone else having issues with companions deciding to be world travelers in e1.7.2? If I leave a companion in a town after a few days they will be a in a random town across the map. I checked their log and it doesn't say anything happened to them.
