I hate Horse Archers

Why did I decide to sign up with the northern empire as a Merc whilst they were fighting the Khuzaits? I've never fought them before and the one time I don't go with a decent horse rider because I want to fight on foot, this happens. Is there a way to find high trade companions?

I get a lot of melee companions as I'm searching, but none for trade or even just steward. Also when I visit cities i haven't in a long time, there aren't any available companions for hire, is that supposed to happen?

Anyway is there a specific place to go to find more social or int focused companions?
