Mods with only one Kingdom

I know the whole point of MnB is the chaos and politics of different kingdoms, BUT i was wondering if there are any mods with only one major kingdom or just 2 for a rebellion type playthrough. How does the new deserter recruitment work in Perisno?

I just got back to perisno after years of not playing it. Back then, you can offer deserters money to have them join your party. Now, when I attempt the same thing, they’d just say im weak and fight me instead. The option to hire them still exists tho so im confused how it works. Do I need a certain amount of party strength to hire deserters?
