Mods with only one Kingdom

I know the whole point of MnB is the chaos and politics of different kingdoms, BUT i was wondering if there are any mods with only one major kingdom or just 2 for a rebellion type playthrough. Whats the downside of using a shield?

I have a feeling that using a shield with a sword or an axe is just super strong because you can block almost everything and keep your survivability way higher than when using a two handed weapon.
