Monchug was feeling generous today.

I'm playing with some mods that heavily restrict recruitment, so my army is almost entirely bandits and mercenaries. On land, Monchug's army would destroy mine, but this isn't a land battle and he gifted me several amazing prizes. Whats the downside of using a shield?

I have a feeling that using a shield with a sword or an axe is just super strong because you can block almost everything and keep your survivability way higher than when using a two handed weapon.
