Declared war on allied mercenaries on load save?

I’m playing as southern Empire, have the Hidden Hand as mercenaries with a couple of their parties in my army. I started a big battle late at night, so half way through quit to go to bed, knowing I’d saved right before the battle anyway like a good little save scummer. Now when I reload any of the precious 3 autosaves I immediately declare war on the Hidden Hand and their parties abandon my Army. Hey, does anyone know what's up with this? I've tried troubleshooting for almost 2 hours now and scoured the internet for someone else having this exact issue. So, I've just given up, asking you guys for help if any of you know what's going on. Thank you
