How to get better at this game

Ive never been good at Mount and Blade, I have hundreds of hours in warband but I've never had the combat down even against AI.

Now I'm finally playing bannerlord and I'm really getting my shins kicked in. In both melee combat and the overall battle strategy it just feels hopeless but I don't want to give up.

How did you guys manage to figure out the function menu? I never even tried in warband but it seems so fleshed out in bannerlord, despite that it doesn't seem to make any sense. I see so many videos of people quickly setting up positions meanwhile by the time I figure out the button combos to get a single formation ready the battles over.

Secondly, despite all the time I've invested, I can't seem to swing my weapon consistently. I've tried to set it to inverse over default, but I would say my character only attacks in the direction I want 50% of the time, even less if it's a repeat swing, like trying to over head swing over and over again in a melee.

Any advice or directions to other resources would be appreciated

Dickplomacy Reloaded!

Hello everyone! :D I just made a mod, it's called Dickplomacy Reloaded. Basically it adds the functionality that you would find in normal mods, such as Dynamic Troop Trees, Custom Troop Trees, Freelancer, Tournament Play Enhancements, Single Screen Character Creation, and Rubiks World Map into Dickplomacy. ^-^ It also doesn't require WSE, but you still need the older (exe) version of Warband that comes with Dickplomacy. (Though I haven't tested it with the newest version of Warband so it might work.) Also, if you do decide to download it, please ignore (DO NOT USE) the "content options" folder, it is legacy, and the mod is compiled from source with all features. Bannerlord + ArtMoney. Who uses with?

Money -- no problem. Troops -- no problem. Attribute & Focus points -- no problem. Renown -- no problem. Inventory stuff (weapons, armor etc.), food, goods -- no problem. Even smithy stamina is no problem at all. But how do I can search and modify xp for upgrading my battle & other perks? For example: I want crossbow skill 250, what algorithm?
