How are we "losing"?

There are no imperial settlements in the game at all, and yet somehow we are technically losing the war against the "northern empire." I have captured their leader a number of times, and he instantly escapes afterward and the score decreases. Help? Here you can see that they are somehow not losing Somehow they are \"raiding\" without actually doing anything on the map (unless they are not in the area of the northern empire?) Crashing before battles on Series X

Every time I try to load a battle on a certain character, after about 2 weeks of no issues, my game crashes about 70% through loading the fight every single time. I've reinstalled and rebooted the save so many times but it keeps doing this shit. Any suggestions?
