Declared war on allied mercenaries on load save?

I’m playing as southern Empire, have the Hidden Hand as mercenaries with a couple of their parties in my army. I started a big battle late at night, so half way through quit to go to bed, knowing I’d saved right before the battle anyway like a good little save scummer. Now when I reload any of the precious 3 autosaves I immediately declare war on the Hidden Hand and their parties abandon my Army. What the absolute fuck. I was KILLING IT in this game. Destroyed and conquered the Sturgians. Northern Empire. Then I got fucking wrecked over and over and taken prisoner. Now I can't even regain what I had and I'm paying so much more daily. I'm about to restart and be fucking ruthless... Knowing it'll fuck me in the end
