I hate Horse Archers

Why did I decide to sign up with the northern empire as a Merc whilst they were fighting the Khuzaits? I've never fought them before and the one time I don't go with a decent horse rider because I want to fight on foot, this happens. How many of you don’t use a horse in battles?

Curious to see if anyone ever goes the infantry/archer approach instead of horse archer/cavalry approach? And if it’s viable at all. I’ve never seen a point in getting off my horse unless it dies, but i kind of wanna try marching in with infantry.
