Hey folks! Question about War Sails.

I’m still a new player at Mount & Blade. My friend has the PS+ catalogue so I gave Warband a shot and liked it, I’ll be sure to play it on PC! I’m interested in buying War Sails. Is it important to create a party for your sons/companion

I have like 4 sons and all the companions (think they are 7). I’m wandering if it is useful to create their own party and how does it work? (I’m new to the game)
