Mods with only one Kingdom

I know the whole point of MnB is the chaos and politics of different kingdoms, BUT i was wondering if there are any mods with only one major kingdom or just 2 for a rebellion type playthrough. Smithing questions

I really like smithing, not for the money but I love designing my own weapons and just crafting cool stuff, but I have no idea what the best way to get designs unlocked?

I thought i could get a design I wanted from smelting a weapon done but this doesn't always work, any ideas?

Second question if my character dies do I keep all the designs I know? I've played long enough to play the grandkids but I actually can't remember...
