Starting Pendor , I hear it's hard anything I should know?

Had to stop playing ACOK after the absolute disaster it's become where you need X amount of renown to recruit villagers making you GRIND to get a large army yet absurd troop wages make large armies unsustainable.

Does Pendor have anything unique or is it just a vanilla reskin with different factions?
