Mods with only one Kingdom

I know the whole point of MnB is the chaos and politics of different kingdoms, BUT i was wondering if there are any mods with only one major kingdom or just 2 for a rebellion type playthrough. Companion parties

Does creating companion parties work well?

I'm wondering if I should make a party with my companion and give him 20-30 soldiers and just let him run around himself. Will he go recruit and fill up his band and train them so that when I later need him in an army he will be available with full band?
