Monchug was feeling generous today.

I'm playing with some mods that heavily restrict recruitment, so my army is almost entirely bandits and mercenaries. On land, Monchug's army would destroy mine, but this isn't a land battle and he gifted me several amazing prizes. Companion parties

Does creating companion parties work well?

I'm wondering if I should make a party with my companion and give him 20-30 soldiers and just let him run around himself. Will he go recruit and fill up his band and train them so that when I later need him in an army he will be available with full band?
