Any way to assign only certain troop types to a formation?

Hi new player here, question in the title. Let's say I only want my Swordsmen in Formation 1, is there a way to do this with any granularity? I know there's the small icons which allow you to set "preferred types", but is there any way to do it with a bit of precision? Or a mod which allows this? Thanks in advance. I hope it doesn't take too long for this game to leave early access

I really want to mod the crap out of it, but with regular updates it's impossible

I played the game on launch for a while, and now a year later for awhile and tbh it doesn't even seem like much changed? Mind you I love the game I don't mean to sound whiny, I just expected things to be more balanced after a full year.

At least they didn't fix blacksmithing so I can use that to counter the expensive wages that workshops barely even scratch
