Disappointed Diplomacy

Just got back into the game agter the war sails expansion. And I am disappointed at the shallow level of fiplomacy still in the game. So many aded features and yet they could not add a truce mechanic...or even a way to influence nobles to change policy. Furthermore the changes they made are banal and redundant.. Explain to me why my "ALLY" Just deckared war on me after i PAID them 500k money to attack another faction. Keep in mind this was with 72 days remaining on the alliance. Defeating a kingdom?

How do you defeat a kingdom? I'm dealing with this right now. Khurzait have nothing left. All nobles are imprisoned by one kingdom or another. I've got 10, Aserai have 3, and south kingdom has the last 2. Other than the babies, everyone has been captured. I want to atleast end the war, but I'm not going end this war if its going to result in me paying tribute. Is there anything I can do about this?
