Disappointed Diplomacy

Just got back into the game agter the war sails expansion. And I am disappointed at the shallow level of fiplomacy still in the game. So many aded features and yet they could not add a truce mechanic...or even a way to influence nobles to change policy. Furthermore the changes they made are banal and redundant.. Explain to me why my "ALLY" Just deckared war on me after i PAID them 500k money to attack another faction. Keep in mind this was with 72 days remaining on the alliance. Loading new 1.7.1 saves on old 1.7.0 game

Any possible way to load new saves on an older version? The game automatically updated to 1.7.1 and without thinking I played for hours without noticing that a few mods, most importantly PARTY AI OVERHAUL AND COMMANDS, are no longer working. Reverting the game to 1.7.0 and attempting to load my most recent saves causes an immediate crash. Can anything be done or is it impossible? Any knowledge or advice about dealing with mods and future updates would be greatly appreciated.
