Declared war on allied mercenaries on load save?

I’m playing as southern Empire, have the Hidden Hand as mercenaries with a couple of their parties in my army. I started a big battle late at night, so half way through quit to go to bed, knowing I’d saved right before the battle anyway like a good little save scummer. Now when I reload any of the precious 3 autosaves I immediately declare war on the Hidden Hand and their parties abandon my Army. Fians exist to pull you out of sticky situations.

550 troops in the garrison vs my 210ish in my attempt to retake Hvalvik. I'm playing an almost all infantry army with heavy duty nord toops, backed up by fians. All my melee got slowly munched by their numbers, but I was able to move my archers into an amazing flanking position and they saved my ass. 300+ kills to just the Fian troops really carried the battle.
