I hate Horse Archers

Why did I decide to sign up with the northern empire as a Merc whilst they were fighting the Khuzaits? I've never fought them before and the one time I don't go with a decent horse rider because I want to fight on foot, this happens. Hey I’m new to bannerlord and haven’t had much actual campaign game play I was wondering what I should do to start out and how i properly manage kingdoms towns a such without them rebelling

Also if you can please tell me why I can’t play nords in custom land battles I’d be greatful
