What is fast mode?

So, newish player here. Got granted two of the major towns (Veluca & Khudan) by my King. What's the best way to make sure they stay mine?

I don't know why he granted two of the major towns to me at the same time, I mean I've never even owned a castle. One of my friends says stack the hell outa the Garrison with peasants because when a battle sims, it only really takes the numbers of men in consideration.

Just wanted to know if anyone else had any other tips for me to keep the cities when I of course leave the Kingdom.

By the way I'm on PS4
