How to improve auto resolve outcomes?

I auto-resolve 90% of the fights I get into, what can I do for better results? Should I find 1-2 companions with high tactics skill and keep them in my party? Will that help? Do I have to assign them into any role? There is no slot for tactics role, is it enough if I just keep them in my party? As for sieges, should I keep a companion with high engineering skill and assign him in the engineering slot? Does anybody have the updated full in-game map of Calradia?

This is the latest version we've got, it was posted here 6 years ago, by a now deleted account. The original poster has said they have ripped it out of the memory while playing - do we have a magician that could do it again? There are some visible changes, for example with Beinland being added and the Perassic sea missing it's original Cyprus shaped islands. We desperately need an update to see the full updated map
