How to improve auto resolve outcomes?

I auto-resolve 90% of the fights I get into, what can I do for better results? Should I find 1-2 companions with high tactics skill and keep them in my party? Will that help? Do I have to assign them into any role? There is no slot for tactics role, is it enough if I just keep them in my party? As for sieges, should I keep a companion with high engineering skill and assign him in the engineering slot? Mod to lower price notables ask for supporting you with influence/file to edit the price they ask for?

Notables in my game are asking me for 220,000 denars to give me 0.5 influence per day. This is an outrageously high price and what they give in return is not equal in value. Is there a mod that reduces this amount to something reasonable like 5-10K denars? Or is there a file somewhere I can edit with Notepad++ to reduce the amount? Honestly ridiculous.
