How to improve auto resolve outcomes?

I auto-resolve 90% of the fights I get into, what can I do for better results? Should I find 1-2 companions with high tactics skill and keep them in my party? Will that help? Do I have to assign them into any role? There is no slot for tactics role, is it enough if I just keep them in my party? As for sieges, should I keep a companion with high engineering skill and assign him in the engineering slot? The Clash Of Kings

Two warrior kings the Faris Ali and the General Garios clashed in the biggest naval battle in the history of Calradia.

Against the overwhelming might of the Western Empire fleet, Ali’s forces stood their ground amidst the crashing waves delivered a crushing blow, The sea became a graveyard for the Imperial armada resulting in a decisive victory for Ali's forces.

After the battle, Ali executed Garios as punishment for his betrayal and withdrawal at the Battle of Pendraic which left the Aserai to die without support.

Note: Why TaleWorlds didn't add reinforcements in naval battles??!! bc if you have 500 soldiers you can beat an army of 10 thousand bc the max is around 500 for each.
