How to improve auto resolve outcomes?

I auto-resolve 90% of the fights I get into, what can I do for better results? Should I find 1-2 companions with high tactics skill and keep them in my party? Will that help? Do I have to assign them into any role? There is no slot for tactics role, is it enough if I just keep them in my party? As for sieges, should I keep a companion with high engineering skill and assign him in the engineering slot? Could you create a kingdom then leave it?

Battania got wiped off the map within three years in my game.

Could I theoretically make a new kingdom, call it Battania, same color and laws, recruit some Battanian clans, and then leave?

Would they elect a new leading clan and practically continue as Battania?

Could you then go and create another kingdom afterward?
