Mods with only one Kingdom

I know the whole point of MnB is the chaos and politics of different kingdoms, BUT i was wondering if there are any mods with only one major kingdom or just 2 for a rebellion type playthrough. Can’t upgrade empire troops into cavalry?

I have a plethora of normal mounts and war horses but when I go to upgrade my infantry it doesn’t even give me the option to upgrade them to cavalry.. what am I doing wrong? Please help
