I'm playing with some mods that heavily restrict recruitment, so my army is almost entirely bandits and mercenaries. On land, Monchug's army would destroy mine, but this isn't a land battle and he gifted me several amazing prizes. So I was contracted as a mercernary for the Western Empire whilst they were at war with Ergeon's Clan, rulers of the city-state of Seonon. I was about to fight Ergeon when I decided to see what he'd say if I asked for peace.
To my surprise, the bargain menu opened and, sure enough, peace was on the table. I asked for all his denars, horses and his cow in exchange for peace and he readily accepted. Then came the notification "The Western Empire and Ergeon's Clan have made peace."
Surely there's no way a lowly merc could possibly convince Emperor Galios that the treaty he drafted is valid and that he should lay off on Ergeon, especially since he gets nothing in exchange. I'm not even a vassal so I have no right to speak for the Kingdom in any way shape or form.
The ability to do this make it theoretically possible to secure the independence of Seonon and make a quick buck by contracting for whoever they're at war with, trading for peace then leaving the Kingdom with no consequences.
