How to make archers not stupid in siege defense

Was leading a siege defense outnumbered 3-1. Thought I’d be fine since I have 150 fian champs. Well, they decide to be retarded.

I tell them to go on walls in different places in scatter formation, they stand right next to each other and only 6-7 in each formation are firing.

How do I make them not sped?
