Declared war on allied mercenaries on load save?

I’m playing as southern Empire, have the Hidden Hand as mercenaries with a couple of their parties in my army. I started a big battle late at night, so half way through quit to go to bed, knowing I’d saved right before the battle anyway like a good little save scummer. Now when I reload any of the precious 3 autosaves I immediately declare war on the Hidden Hand and their parties abandon my Army. No victory screen?

Just conquered the whole map, but haven't gotten any kind of game over screen. So I've spent a couple hours hunting down and murdering every lord I can find, but a lot of them are hiding in my own cities and I can't arrest them while they're in. How to actually win the game?
