Is there a mod that changes the formation system to the one from Warband?

In Warband you would allocate troops to formations on your party screen. You could put individual troops in formation 1,2, 3 etc. In bannerlord it feels cumbersome having to do it in the battle deployment screen using the sliders. Is there a way to change this? submitted by /u/FingersToKeyboard [link] [comments]

How do you personally find best to make money and keep steady income without tournaments?

What do you buy where, and how do you get the funds to do so? I'm not new to the game, but I'm certainly foul at the trade and financial aspect of the game, and I'd like to know where I should invest my money first, before building armies and conquering my enemies. [awoiaf] how do I increase my fleet size and prepare for the Others

I've almost unified all westeros after many hours, and now, waiting the white walkers i'm planning to invade essos. But I can only have 7 ships, wich is not enough to carry all my army of 670 men. Is there a way to have more ? And is there a special thing to do for the white walkers, because i know fire arrows can kill them, but i don't know how to prepare my infantry and cavalry. Can I make them equip special items ? And happy new year of course! (Excuse my poor english, i'm french) Submitted December 31, 2017 at 09:51PM by Lord_Co0kie http://ift.tt/2ltNhas

How do you deploy your whole army at once?

Everytime I go into a battle, a part of my army deploys with the other spawning later and the game saying "Reinforcements have arrived". Is there any way to deploy everyone at once. Keep in mind this is for the original Mount and Blade. Submitted December 31, 2017 at 04:55PM by nathanbd4 http://ift.tt/2Ch8sqB

1257 AD Siege Defense?

I may simply be an idiot but I can not figure out how to defend in sieges in this module. I play with around 100-120% difficulty depending on my mood and do just fine on the other mods I play. But on 1257 I just keep getting steam rolled over and over again in siege. I usually have a slight numbers disadvantage but I don't even get that far usually. It feels like the AI is only spawning 10-15 infantry on my side and then 60 archers. Although the archers are so spaced out that they get mowed down. Even when I clump up the infantry in them smallest choke point they seem to get ran over and then the spawn point of reinforcements is terrible and they just get mowed down in turn. All hail the holy weapon of divine judgement, all hail the musketoon!

If this isn't one of the worst weapons in all of mount and blade (aside from the cudgel) I don't know what is. I love it so much, I pick it every time it's available, just to have something different. It's fun to use for sure, but is there also a way to be effective with it? Does Pendor really not have any troops with blunt weapons ?

Seriously, I've seen most of the troops in the mod and no troops have blunt weapons. That's what I do in every mod, create an army made of blunt weapon troops, preferably cavarly, and enslave every poor soul on the road. Are there really no troops with those weapons, or am I missing something ? Submitted December 31, 2017 at 01:43AM by CosmicDrifterDK http://ift.tt/2ltdaq2

Getting jewelry for the ladies

Playing the Viking DLC sandbox I got the quest that says you need to grab jewelry for a lady. I was asked to bring 3 fucking pieces of it to Turid. Obviously I'm already having doubts about it since she seems like high maintenance, but I might still go through with it. But where do I find jewelry? I've heard Friesland but that's a long fucking way when you don't have a ship. Any other suggestions where there's a high spawn rate of it? Feel the (frost)Burn - Calradic Campaign #24

Swadia stands defiant! Originally forming an uneasy friendship after ending their long feud with the Vaegirs, the swadians welcomed military and economical cooperation. As of late, anti-boyar rhetoric has rapidly begun to spread throughout Swadia, as links to Vaegir officials meddling directly into Swadian affairs become more and more clear by the day. Fears of being a mere puppet to the Vaegir war machine gripped the nation. The weak link binding these two nations together was soon severed when /u/KingHarlausOfficial gave a speech denouncing the pact of Rivacheg as "the worst trade deal in the history of trade deals", though being quick to reaffirm that "Nobody makes alliances like I do" Swadian forces have quickly moved to seize their old city of Dhirim before the Vaegir military can mobilize. This is looking to become total war. In Meta Terms Welcome to the 24th Calradic Campaign! This event will see the Swadians break their alliance with the Vaegirs and

[AWOIAF] Caravans stuck traveling between ports.

As the title mentions, I'm having issues with caravans getting stuck when traveling between ports. The issue is most obvious at Sunspear, as there are about 30 caravans that sail towards Essos (where I own every city) and then turn around for Sunspear before repeating the loop indefinitely. It's hard to tell, but I think it is happening with all caravans that are set to travel from port to port. Does anyone know the cause and/or fix? I am the only lord in my kingdom, in case that is pertinent info. I am also playing version 3.0, but this issue has been encountered by someone else in a previous version ( http://ift.tt/2lwPq4p ) Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated. (EDIT) I should also mention that I am not at war with Sunspear, and there are no enemy parties of any kind between ports. It also looks like all of the caravans are attempting to head to Ashefa Athaozar, or one of the Volantene cities. Submitted December 30, 2017 at 06:57PM by Kasuzid http://ift.tt/

The makers of Brytenwalda are sadists

I had no idea that the entire of conquest of Gaul was done by 12 people in armor, but given the effect 6 of them had on my army of 50 people that now seems like a very valid possibility. It wouldn't be difficult if I can find whatever rocks the enemy are using that deal 50 damage to the horse that costs 3200 and sells for 200, but all my rocks seem to deal 5-7 damage. They must be roman rocks or something. Whole columns. Now if you need me I'll be waiting for the army of 8 master-less men to run out of arrows, because if my army charges them all 50 of them die, but if I just wait around and keep restocking stones I have a chance. Voice acting for Bannerlord mods

As we know from the E3 demo, Bannerlord will move away from text-based speech to actually voice acted speech. Do we have any news on whether modders would be able to add custom voice acted dialogue (ala PoP's eargasmic voices)? I think this would really increase the difficulty of the creation of overhaul mods like AWOIAF and PoP. Because modders would need to find voice actors and shit to record tons of dialogue. Not to mention even if they find volunteer voice actors, it does not guarantee they each would have quality recording equipment. Making each character have different qualities in audio. How do you think modders will adapt to this? Submitted December 30, 2017 at 05:04AM by DanTheManTheMate http://ift.tt/2q2U3c6

Would you prefer a star wars mod or a medieval/fantasy mod?

I was lastly playing kotor 2 and was thinking about making a mod for it ; but I quickly realized that it would not be as great as I intended for two main reasons : I know the game perfectly and the player/modder base is almost dead. So I finally decided that, if I had enough time, I would gladly release a relevant warband mod on the Star Wars universe. But there was already something else in my mind concerning modding warband : a medieval fantasy world with in-depth factions and stories : everything I want is already written but I don't have time to work on it for the moment. The map is also ready. The specificity of my mod would come from the emphasis on story, quests and duels : that's why it may fit the star wars universe too. The combat system is already ready (including lightsaber forms, which are trainable in combat, and quests to get those) ; not considering force powers and blaster deflection, which will take a lot of time (I want to avoid shields in melee combat a

An honest to goodness question

What do you fine people think happens on the quest where certain lords or rulers ask to 'borrow' your companion for a while (yes, even the completely useless ones...cough cough)? I can make sense of a king needing an engineer companion, or just a generally good fighter or leader. Asking for a blank slate like Ymira or Jeremus to join him for a week seems fishy, though. Recommendations for control schemes?

Trying to get back into M&B and I have such a hard time getting attacks and blocks in the directions I want them using mouse movement, while keyboard movement is more precise but also fucks with your footwork unless you're a grand-master. Are there any modified control schemes, keybinds, that sort of thing to determine strikes? Chivalry always made sense to me, at least. [PoP] Question: what's behind the god messages?

Other than Ullr Vetr, is there background, quests, items behind Astraea and any other instances where a Pendorian gods talks? Or am I imagining there being more than those two? Are you playing Viking Conquest? If so, you will probably enjoy Bernard Cornwell's "The Saxon Stories."

I had set aside the game some months ago, but I feel compelled to get back into it now that I've started this series of novels. The characters frequently make reference to towns and rivers and peoples that appear on the Viking Conquest map. It's great fun to recognize them and have some context, too. [TLD] PSA for Capturing an Enemy Lord

As long as this quest is active, your odds of capturing an enemy lord go up to very nearly 100%, for subsequent encounters. After you capture one, the % chance may go down. But when you have a lord captured... opening up any sort of barracks interface will allow the lord to escape. This will happen without any notification. Such interfaces include: barracks in towns, offering reinforcements to allied parties. Submitted December 28, 2017 at 11:22AM by jtlannister http://ift.tt/2zI9gi3

Looking for (balanced-ish) campaign mods that add guns. I very much enjoyed The Eagle and the Radiant Cross (though it's long defunct), for reference.

I wanna play a M&B campaign (for the first time in years), and am looking for mods that add muskets et al to the game (but keeps the arms and armor of the late medieval period, in other words I'm not a fan of WF&S). Just grabbed three big/top mods, but PoP doesnt have guns, I found out that Floris treats them as cheat items, and... well, that zombie mod (Reckoning or whatever) is really not what I'm looking for. For instance,I joined in as a vassal of Swadia very early on,and my troops are very far from experienced.I have however spotted a chance to swiftly take Reindi castle as its garrison was very low because it had only recently been taken by the Khergit Khanate, perhaps a day before I sieged it even. Other factions declaring war on me despite high right to rule

My understanding of right to rule is that the higher it is, the less likely other factions will attack you, the more likely other faction leaders will respect you, and the more likely vassals will switch allegiance to you. However despite having max right to rule, I've found myself at war with three other factions within a small frame of time. When I try to make peace they always refuse, when I try to send an emissary to any non-hostile faction they don't refer to me as king. It's starting to become a bit of a problem. A Calradic Christmas Tale

’Twas the night before Christmas and all through the village, Were presents for peasants just ripe for a pillage!   There were arrows for Khergits and axes for Nords, And little wee horses for little wee lords.   Some wax for the shaft of an axe not yet rubbed, And butter for feasting, stacked tub onto tub!   The raiders they crept whilst the townspeople slept, Past the end of the bed they silently stepped. Of all their plunder they started to think, “So many new skulls for a Christmastide drink!”   “Oh why do we celebrate this time of year?” Some wonder “Just what is the reason?” A man on the road whispered in my ear,   “It’s harvesting season...” Submitted December 24, 2017 at 08:31PM by Wandering__Bard http://ift.tt/2zqiT57

‘Twas the night before Feastmas, when all through the place Not a vassal was stirring, not even Count Plais; The stockings were hung by the chimney with care, In hopes that Santa Clais soon would be there; The boyars were nestled all snug in their beds, While visions of Dhirim danced in their heads; And Graveth in his ’kerchief, and I in my cap, Had just settled our brains for a long winter’s nap, When out in the courtyard there arose such a clatter, I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter. Away to the window I flew like a Nord, Tore open the shutters and looked for my lord. The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow Gave the sheen of butter to objects below, When, what should appear to boggle my mind, But a mini red sleigh, with eight coursers in line. With a little old driver, brandishing a mace, I knew in a moment it must be Santa Clais. I’ve checked settings and they’re on the easiest difficulty. Any advice? Submitted December 24, 2017 at 01:27PM by reddit_lead_to_gold http://ift.tt/2l6g2ZG

Help installing a Mod (Warband)

New to the game, loving it so far, but I always love mods. So Installed a small armor mod, but know i want to install this mod and I'm having problems. I copied and pasted the files but it just made the game CTD on startup, so I had to salvage the game, luckily i had a Native backup. So how does oen go about installing this, and how would I test it (via cheats etc). Submitted December 23, 2017 at 07:47PM by Manus812 http://ift.tt/2BWWwqA

TIL there is an outer space version of Mount and Blade.

The game is called Space Pirates and Zombies 2 . I didn't buy it expecting a Warband clone, but once I started playing the inspiration was pretty clear. The game uses an overworld (over-galaxy?) map with instanced battles. Space stations take the place of towns and castles, which are supported by smaller stations that produce a specific resource. There are no hero characters, near as I can tell, but the role of other lords is taken by other spaceship captains. Not that it's exactly the same. For example rather than building a "warband" of spaceships you have one, which you can heavily customize. Sure, it has fighter hangers, but unless there's a capability I didn't get to in five hours of playing you can't ever have more than four of those. Utlimately, it's no replacement for Warband, but if you're looking for something that's a little different but might still scratch that itch it's both not bad and currently on sale on Steam. Submi

Is it normal for settlements to take 15 seconds to load when I enter it? Such as when I click on King's Landing, it takes 25 Seconds for the settlement to display the usual "Visit Tavern" "Trade with Locals" menu and it's extremely frustrating. MY gripes with Pop early game

Anyone with suggestions to make Prophesy of pendor early game more enjoyable for a combat orientated player, like i tend to run around with 24 - 30 adventurers until i get to over 200 renown, but i just dont find mercenary gameplay fun in Pendor and the equipment and proficiency difference between most spwans and the player make it unfun to try and play a small mercenary crew until late early game or midgame, basically besides fighting the snake cult, who are fun and remain a legitimate threat from early to end , early game seems so empty of unique foes, and because of the way renown is handled in mount and blade i have to forego having any numbers advantage in order to gain renown which means running around with a bunch of heavy cavalry, although thats more a fault of warband than PoP. Actually i hope that the update after next allows you to first break away from raiding when a superior force decides to stop you, because not being able to raid unless im confident im stronger than my

I am the developer of the mods Persistent Troop Identities, Custom Troop Trees and Undead Calradia, AMA.

I had the idea forever ago to make this when the time was right (new release of PTI was the plan) but the right time never came around. Yesterday, I seem to have accidentally hijacked another thread and turned it into a Q&A about my mods, so I figure now's as good a time as any. Fun fact, I requested permission for this ahead of time and it was so bloody long ago that our good friend /u/Zippollini was actually not even a mod yet, so pls don't delete, /u/Mephistopholees should be able to confirm. The relevant mods, with a brief description and status overview: Persistent Troop Identities Every single troop in your army has a name and you can see where they came from, how long they've been with you, number of kills, etc. An additional, optional feature is that your troops can automatically loot those enemies they kill/knock out, so if one of your recruits lands the final blow on a lord, you may see them decked out in expensive gear next battle. I think they should a troop tree for giants, like giants with massive bows that can kill knights in one hit, mammoth riders that can stomp down all the puny men, however I think they should have food multipliers so the giants eat slot more than men, and they cost a lot to keep, 10k for a mammoth rider and to upgrade, also they need better stats, so they don't die so easily Submitted December 22, 2017 at 01:28AM by Munckinator123 http://ift.tt/2pcqowB

[Viking Conquest] Goidelic (Irish) Faction Highlight

The Goidels hold a special place in my heart as my favourite faction in Viking Conquest. They bring the image of the quirky and slightly less talented younger sibling of the Picts, in particular a younger sibling that takes inspiration from their elder while trying to form an identity of its own. The result of this angsty imitation-slash-innovation is a faction that is distinct and unique, even while sharing much of the same equipment. Being similarly equipped to the Picts means that the Goidels also share strengths and weaknesses in armour and arms. Their shields are small, which when combined with the fact that they generally have poor leg armour, means that enemy fire that goes low will probably hit and do a lot of damage. Additionally, their elite units lack the very heavy armour that the Norse, Angle, and Saxon elites have. As for strengths, the Goidels have decent swords and the Picts have good axes, and while the shield may be smaller than others, it actually has more health. T

I want to massacre every single Rhodok lord

I've been maining Rhodoks this current playthrough on vanilla Warband, and let me tell you, I can swear the developers did this on purpose. I siege and soften up a castle, to the point where one it's final push and it'll be mine. But usually, before this final push, I run out of food, or I need to clear some inventory space or prisoner space at the nearby town. AND LO AND BEHOLD THESE FUCKERS GATHER TOGETHER ONE OF THEIR BIG MULTI-LORD HIT SQUADS OUT OF NOWHERE AND SNIPE THE CASTLE FROM ME BEFORE I CAN GET BACK! Query about some things in AWOIAF module

So, I was assigned as marshal, and naturally I looked south to the Iron Throne as my destination. We sieged until they sallied and took the throne. I captured and executed Joffrey as a traitor to state. My question is, after getting the prompt that I am King of the Andals now, even though I am still a vassal of Robb Stark. His title on the map has changed to Lord Robb Stark, not King, but he is still leader lf The Northern faction? Is there anyway to make him bend the knee? Also is there any special funtions of Kings Landing I can utilize as "King"? Submitted December 21, 2017 at 06:48AM by RegnurTehRed http://ift.tt/2p4Ysuu

[Prophesy of Pendor] how to defend a siege?

I have taken highcliffe castle from the Fierdsvane in an easy siege, I have 180 elite troops garrisoned, with 108 ebony gauntlet troops in my company. I also have 10 tactics. so in total ~60 knights of the ebony gauntlet, with the rest all made up in vast majority by high tier cavalry. but every time I try and defend this fucker, they're useless, the archers don't position well at all, the cavalry don't block the ladders. the enemy troops just come up through the ladders and overflow on to my troops almost instantly! My question is why in the hell won't they position properly to defend like the enemy AI does. Submitted December 20, 2017 at 07:46PM by DiscreteDummy http://ift.tt/2BqMOzW

Helleu! I'm part of the team that revived the cRPG mod for Warband, here to answer your questions and give you some updates!

Here's the link to my previous post on the matter! [H]ello, I'm Uther and I'm part of the current development team that has been working on cRPG for the last couple of months. I'll spare you the history and the bland bits, instead providing some amazing stats. During the last 12 weeks: We've finally seen an account sign-up spike We've also noticed an absurd rise in simultaneously active accounts And finally, a grand increase in total number of recently active accounts up to almost a whopping 1200! Why the sudden spike in activity? Because we have finally become able to patch the game and issue actual bug fixes and new content (new items, reworked level ranges), which brought in mostly old players but also some new faces. The biggest change so far has been called the Patch of Undestiny , meant to revert some changes which were generally disliked by the community. Highlights of it include lowering the retirement level to 31 (from 35), lowering the maximum

Questions about playing as a woman

I'm playing as a woman and am yet to join a faction. I've gotten my renown up to around 200 and am just waiting on some faction to fall behind so I can join them and help them regain their former glory (I don't much enjoy playing from a position of strength). However, I've never played as a woman and wanted to know if there are factions to avoid and any useful mechanics specific to the fairer sex? Why I deleted my save.

I tried to go siege Tulga and blitz the khergits. Mind you I had 250 top tier units, all capitani d'assedi, chevalier barronet, and husbondir. Maybe 20 tier 5 units in my army and the rest are tier 6. I saw the icon on the map and thought 'Oh it must just be one of those dinky patrols with 50 men they won't even try to attack me.' So i sieged Tulga. Oh my gods, when I saw the pop up menu saying 'You have encountered Tulga patrol. You have 250 men against their 1800' I think the game is fucking with me. But I am playing a realistic save so I went and did battle. Had 50 men on the field at first because of high tactics on Lezalit and having 500 man battle size. The first wave was regular Kherghit units, I was a little worried. Just about killed them all when i was knocked out and decided to pull back for the next wave. The second wave... its all peasant women. and farmers. FUCKING PEASANTS. I just told my guys to charge. So much blood. There must have been a

[PoP] Peasant army vs my Knighthood order is some of the most fun I’ve ever had

I had finally built my knighthood order into a respectable force, all outfitted with Noldor weaponry and armor. I took a group of them out in order to gain renown for the glory of my knights, and encountered a massive army of peasants. I had never seen a peasant army before, and thought it would be fun to fight. So I attacked. As the battle began, it was only I and thirteen companions, and we rode about pelting the slow moving peasant horde with arrows. Eventually we ran out, and charged in. As my companions fell, my knights slowly came in. Eventually it was I and my knights in a horde of vile beggars, slashing everything in reach. After a long battle, multiple horses, and many dead peasants, we stood victorious: 100 men having defeated 1000. My armor was a lovely shade of red at the end. TLDR: killed a bunch of peasants. New to AWOIAF, what are some suggested mod options to enable/disable?

TL;DR - What mod options should I enable/disable, what difficulties should I start with, etc? I like a hard game that feels satisfying when it all goes right, and I can live with punishing defeats or even being forced to restart 20hrs in. (I'm an XCOM masochist) I've got a few hundred hours between Floris and Pendor, and with a month to kill doing nothing but drinking and gaming I decided it'd be a great time to pick up Warband again. Fell in love with GoT a few months ago while I binged it in a timeframe I'm not too proud of, and found the AWOIAF mod - it's like it was meant to be. But holy fucking hell is this shit brutally difficult - and I love it. I'm trying to roleplay as a Wildling (Outlaw - Nomad - Poacher - Forced to leave home - Old Gods), and it is making this start really rough. That's fine, but I keep seeing people online saying to tweak the mod options and I have no clue where to start in order to craft a fun, challenging gameworld. Ar

I started a new game and encounter a bizarre glitch during the attack on looter hideout

Here's what happened. I got into the hideout with my troops, killed a looter and then I got teleported to one of the looter spawn points. Here's where it gets weird. A headless clone of me appeared on the field. Looters became my allies while my Nord Footmen became my enemies. A few seconds later another clone of me spawned on the field (this one had a head) - I assume these clones are the looters which were supposed to spawn but didn't. Since I had a crossbow equipped I killed my clones with it. Then I cut down the footmen that betrayed me. You can see a part of the dead footman between my head and weapon and the other footmen are raising their weapons to attack me. After that the merchant's brother spawned and when I tried to talk to him the game crashed. : ) I have no idea how or why this happened. It's an unmodified Native module and it never happened before. Why is Dhirim such a bitch to defend??? Will Bannerlord get post release support from Taleworlds?

I hope that Taleworlds doesn't leave Bannerlord hanging after the game launches. I hope we can see more content like patches and DLC. First Taleworlds should make sure the bugs and fixes on the games's release date are fixed. Then we can focus on adding in new content. Maybe we can have stuff like Castle furniture DLC, or we can have an update that adds animal DLC to the game. Dont forget to add in the Nord invasion, and maybe even add in the Khergits. Maybe we can also have more enhanced castle building DLC. Or maybe some Naval warfare DLC. Or maybe even enhanced faction and diplomatic DLC. I also want Taleworlds to buff and nerf weapons and troops as the game's multiplayer meta changes so we don't have the 2 handed spamming and feinting like Warband's multiplayer is right now. I hope they won't go lazy and leave most of the content to modders. Please listen Taleworlds! Submitted December 19, 2017 at 10:58AM by Astrisks http://ift.tt/2BhMwLm

[AWOIAF] Why aren't I getting my business profits while enlisted in a lord's army? and why won't he let me take a day off to pay off my iron bank debts??

Every week instead of getting the normal budget page I just get a message saying I got my wage for being a soldier which is fine because it means I can afk, but it also means that I just missed out on like 20k worth of profits from my breweries after a few months. Does it tell you this anywhere? Where does this money go? In the future I'll tell them to just hold the stuff in storage so I can sell it later but this seems like a huge oversight. I don't want to have to cheat in thousands of gold that has just disappeared into the void. Also, my request for leave is always denied even after a couple of promotions and having good relationship with the lord. With Fire and Sword is ludicrously fun for me, but apparently it's reception among the fanbase has been rather poor.

I mean, to each their own but i found it surprising especially since i haven't encountered any of the issues most people seem to have encountered. I guess on harder difficulties it becomes much more of a challenge to get started, but when you do get started i really do feel the game is a blast. I find the mish-mash of Early Modern gunpowder weaponry with the wild cavalry charges and pikemen, halbrediers duking it out to be endlessly fun and exhlierating. I greatly enjoy the setting too, with it's many different cultures butting heads. The powerful Swedes, the Muscovites, on the crossroads between the East and the West, and the Cossacks, rebellious and independent, the Polish-Lithuanians, a power to rival Sweden, the last vestiges of Genghis Khan's glory in the form of the Crimean Khanate, the Turkic Tatar raiders running around Crimea and the scattered few Ottoman and Finnish soldiers. It's a really unique setting. Riding out, sabre in hand and a wheelock pistol fir

[VC] Effect of height on combat performance, and Ubbe Ragnarson

Fought a series of tournaments at a feast in Northumbria, and noticed something: Ubbe ("Hubbi Ragnarson" in VC) has amazing performance in tournaments, seemingly much better than the other lords. After I became curious I used a saved game to watch him fight several times, he beats other lords and often is even able to take multiple enemies at once. However, all AI lords have the exact same stats, skills, and WP, except for faction leaders, who are slightly higher, at least from what morgh's editor shows. So as far as I can tell the only difference between Ubbe and the other lords is height (Ubbe is a giant). (As an aside, I wish there was some variation in stats, at least making the more significant lords a little higher level and more skilled in appropriate ways, like in Pendor. Lord equipment could use a lot of work as well, they are currently using gear worse than many of their soldiers.). Rather confused about why height would make this kind of difference in AI p

(Shower Thoughts) What term would best describe M&B's third-person movement/camera style? And why don't more games use it?

So I've been thinking a lot about how much I like M&B's camera and general movement scheme and how I don't see it used in a lot of games. In the typical 3rd person game, like the Witcher, Dark Souls or Assassin's Creed, your character always turns to face the direction of movement. Press A and you turn and run to the left. Press S and you turn and run toward the camera. In M&B (plus Skyrim and Fallout) the controls are sort of like a hybrid of 1st/3rd person, where you always face forward but can strafe and backstep. You move like you do in a 1st person game, but the camera's pulled back to look over your shoulder. Personally, I think the M&B's hybrid style is far superior for melee style games because it lets you maneuver around enemies while keeping them in front of you. I can't stand how in the Witcher or Dark Souls, if I want to back up to make a little space between me and my enemy, it makes me turn my back to him and run toward the camera
